Wolves at Work employment programme is helping hundreds of people secure jobs through a partnership with Magna Specialist Confectioners.

The company, based in Telford, are Europe’s largest manufacturer of Hollow and Shell-moulding chocolate products.

Since the summer it has connected with Wolves at Work, which is run by City of Wolverhampton Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), to help more than 550 Wolverhampton residents secure seasonal Production Operative roles through a series of recruitment activities in the city.

As part of the project, Magna is also running daily coaches from Wolverhampton to transport the successful applicants to the factory for their shifts and back.

Magna HR Manager, Fiona Hamer, said: “Wolves at Work have been amazing during our recruitment process, from start to finish. We met with the team in June, they came to understand our needs, they were all very motivated to support us in every way they could and worked out a plan to support our recruitment demand.

“We needed 900-plus production staff, the action plan consisted of utilising contacts, establishing venues, job fairs, Wolves Workbox and Twitter, job centre communications, pop-up events in the Mander Centre, plus much more. We had continual contact to ensure things were moving as planned.

“The team have gone above and beyond to help us achieve a very demanding result, we can’t thank the team enough, we believe we would not have achieved the result without this support, it was integral to achieve this year’s business result. We look forward to future partnership working between Magna and Wolves at Work.”

City of Wolverhampton Council Leader, Councillor Ian Brookfield, added: “The Wolves at Work team have forged a strong relationship with Magna, which is reaping great rewards for city residents and their families.

“It has secured work for hundreds of people and it is yet another success story for the scheme which has already seen thousands of people supported into work.”
