Wolverhampton will be marking St George’s Day with two events this week.
Vocal harmony trio the Bluebird Belles will be singing vintage songs in High Street, Bilston, from 11.30am-1.30pm on Friday 22 April, 2016, and Chris Carmell’s New Vintage Jazz Band and the Signal 107 Roadshow will be providing the entertainment in Queen Square, Wolverhampton, from 11.30am-1.30pm on Saturday 23 April, 2016.
Jim Duncan will also be playing patriotic tunes for shoppers at both events, which have been organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Outdoor Events Team.
St George’s Day remembers England’s patron saint, who according to legend slayed a dragon and saved a princess. The anniversary of his death, which is on 23 April, is seen as England’s national day.
