{"id":7561,"date":"2021-12-03T16:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T16:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wolverhamptonlabour.com\/?p=7561"},"modified":"2022-03-31T16:39:18","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T15:39:18","slug":"labour-group-backs-orange-wolves-safeguarding-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wolverhamptonlabour.com\/news\/labour-group-backs-orange-wolves-safeguarding-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Labour Group backs Orange Wolves safeguarding campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our councillors came together to once again back the annual safeguarding campaign Orange Wolverhampton to help end interpersonal violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wolverhampton is once again supporting the United Nations&#8217; annual 16-day Orange the World campaign, which began last week, with businesses, community groups and individuals urged to &#8220;Orange Wolverhampton\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In doing so, they are helping to raise awareness of Wolverhampton\u2019s drive to end gender-based violence, primarily committed against women and girls, including domestic abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, so-called \u2018honour-based\u2019 violence and sexual violence \u2013 as well as the support available to victims in Wolverhampton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Ian Brookfield, Leader of the City of Wolverhampton Council and  Labour Group, said: &#8220;The Orange Wolverhampton campaign is a vitally important way in which we can all highlight the issue of interpersonal violence, and the help and support that is available to victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These abhorrent crimes range from domestic and sexual abuse to female genital mutilation, forced marriage, so-called \u2018honour-based\u2019 violence, stalking and harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want people to be aware of the issues and to seek help, either for themselves or for a friend or relative who may be suffering at the hands of another.
