Originally from Coventry, Asha has lived in Graiseley ward since 1987 when she moved to Wolverhampton following her marriage to her late husband Cllr. Elias Mattu. Prior to her own election in May 2018, Asha supported Elias with his casework and became a committed Labour activist. For example, she has organised and co-ordinated campaign activities in the ward for several years.

Asha is recognised as a warm and caring person. She has always been interested in educational issues and worked at Graiseley Primary school for many years supporting children and families there. She believes strongly that all youngsters are entitled to receive the best education possible to fulfil their potential and prepare them for adult life.

Asha finds great pleasure in serving the community. She particularly enjoyed her term in office as Mayoress with her husband Cllr Elias Mattu as Mayor.
