People of all ages in the City of Wolverhampton are being encouraged to find out more about apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week (March 4-8).

There are more than 100 apprenticeship vacancies a week on average in the city – and City of Wolverhampton Council and partners are helping recruit to these positions.

Apprenticeships start from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) and run all the way through to post-graduate level.

Apprenticeships provide real opportunities for people of all ages who are motivated to work, enthusiastic to learn, and want to earn a competitive salary while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

They offer a unique opportunity to develop your skills in an area you are passionate about, enhance your confidence, learn from leading professionals and reach your potential. Leading industries and businesses are looking for the next set of dynamic apprentices to shape the future of their organisations in the City of Wolverhampton.

For employers, apprentices can offer tremendous value to organisations, and training costs could be co-funded by the government.

The successful Wolves at Work programme, that has helped more than 3,500 people into work in the City of Wolverhampton also offers support to employers in recruiting apprentices.

Councillor Lynne Moran, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “National Apprenticeship Week is the ideal time for anyone interested in apprenticeships.

“Apprenticeships are an excellent pathway into employment and we work closely with city partners to develop apprenticeship opportunities across the city.

“Advice is on hand from Access to Business, City of Wolverhampton College, Wolverhampton Adult Education Service, and Wolverhampton Connexions Service all year round.

“The city’s Skills and Employment Action Plan continues to be acted on and developed and the Workbox website provides a one-stop shop for people seeking job and apprenticeship opportunities.”
