Halfway House – A special report by Cllr. Craig Collingswood

I have been most concerned about the proposal to build flats on the site of the bowling green at the Halfway House site. Therefore, I joined with fellow Park ward councillors to point out to the Planning committee the dangers faced by residents, students and motorists at the proposal to allow traffic to egress into Paget Road with no more than a “Turn Left Only” sign which residents have pointed out is routinely ignored. This is an extremely busy junction which, at peak times, has hundreds of schoolchildren using it.

Residents agree with me that there are better alternative access routes that the developer should consider: these are either off the Tettenhall Road or from Cranmore Road . The developer has appealed to the Planning Inspector in Bristol, so I have written telling him of my total opposition to this awful scheme. It will be an insult to local opinion and knowledge if the inspector overturns the democratic decision of the local Planning committee.

Craig insists “We continue to represent the best interests of our residents in this campaign.”
