Cllr Brackenridge elected as new Mayor of Wolverhampton

Congratulations to our Wednesfield South councillor Greg Brackenridge on being elected as the new Mayor of Wolverhampton, with wife Sureena Brackenridge as Mayoress.

They take the reins from Councillor Claire Darke and her consort Dr Paul Darke, who did the city proud during their two successive years of service.

Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton, with husband Karl Samuels as her consort.

Mayor Brackenridge becomes the 162nd Mayor of Wolverhampton and said: “It is an honour to be elected mayor of the city in which I was born and raised and has always been my home. I would like to thank the previous mayor, Cllr Claire Darke and her consort Dr Paul Darke for their support and assistance to me as her deputy. It was greatly appreciated and will serve me well for the year ahead.”

Mayor Brackenridge’s motto for the year is “unity is strength. We are greater than the sum of our parts, we achieve more when we work together than we could ever achieve alone.”

His chosen charities for the year are Alternative Giving CIO; The Regimental Association, The Staffordshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’); and The Wolves Foundation.
