Creating a Cleaner, Greener Wolverhampton..
Our neighbourhoods are getting some extra love this year!
Your Labour council has approved the brand‑new Love Your Community: Neighbourhood Team, a targeted taskforce dedicated to making our streets cleaner, safer and greener.
This new 12‑month pilot is a direct response to what residents and councillors have been saying:
“Tackle the litter. Sort the weeds. Clean up our streets. Make our areas feel cared for again.”
So as a listening Labour council we’re acting.
Here’s what the Neighbourhood Team will do:
– Target litter hotspots
– Remove weeds & overgrown vegetation
– Clean signs & sweep streets (manual + mechanical)
– Paint, tidy and install new planters
– Speak directly with residents about local safety issues
– Offer on‑the‑spot help with waste and housing queries
– Use resident & councillor reports to prioritise local needs
– Deliver visible improvements people can actually see
All on top of the huge daily operation already happening across the city.
Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, Cabinet Member for Resident Services and Labour Councillor for Blakenhall, said:
“We have listened to what people have said and are investing in this proactive new approach to do everything we can to make our city a cleaner, greener and safer place for local people to live.
The Neighbourhood Team will make a real, visible difference, whether it’s a broken fence, an overgrown green space or a faded road sign.
We’re working hand‑in‑hand with residents to create communities people love and a city everyone is proud to call home.”
