Celebrate International Women’s Day

Many countries all over the world will be celebrating International Women’s Day which starts on 8 March every year to commemorate the successful struggles and achievements of women; their interests and their present and future contributions to the economic, political and social developments of their country.

Councillor Rupinderjit Kaur is hosting an event with Interfaith Wolverhampton to celebrate the day on Friday 8 March in the Council Chamber from 4.30pm and all colleagues are welcome to attend.

The event will celebrate women’s achievements in the political field as well as looking into how religion plays a part in empowering women.

Guest speakers include female political leaders and faith representatives.

Another free social event will take place on Saturday 9 March at the Friend’s Meeting Room, 8b Summerfield Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4PR, 11am – 3pm by Soroptimist International of Wolverhampton and Women of Wolverhampton who warmly invite local women to join them. Click here to see the event poster.
