Building New and Better Homes for Local People..

One of our key priorities is to build new and better homes for local people in well-connected neighbourhoods across the city.

We are delighted to announce that 24 brand‑new council homes in Low Hill are now close to completion, with local residents set to move in over the coming months.

As a Labour council, we are committed to building the homes our communities need – modern, sustainable and designed for every stage of life.

These new homes include:

– A mix of houses, bungalows and flats
– 4 wheelchair‑accessible houses with rise‑and‑fall kitchens and through‑floor lifts
– 4 fully accessible bungalows
– Larger 4‑ and 5‑bed homes for bigger families
– High energy‑efficiency ratings, solar panels & EV charging points
– Timber‑frame construction to cut carbon and reduce bills

The variety of homes means we can support residents of all ages and family sizes and help build a stronger local community.

And they’re being delivered with the community in mind – designed alongside local residents, built next to open spaces and local facilities, and supported by £1.74 million from Homes England.

These 24 homes are part of a wider phase of new council housing across the city, with 81 new properties completed or underway across six sites – giving more families a secure home, and supporting those waiting for specialist or adapted properties
