
Labour Councillor Andrew Johnson moved an amendment at Full Council on 3rd March 2010 which would have used efficiency savings combined with a 1% rise in Council tax to undertake the following:
• Inflation only increase for meals on wheels prices by only 2%
• Reinstate funding for Voluntary Sector
• Reverse decision to close Visitor Information Centre
• Reverse decision to close Anchor Lane & Shaw Road Civic Amenity Sites for 2 days per week
• Reinstate bonfire at Hickman Park
• Reduce cuts in Youth Service and Community Play
• Fund planning and consultation on schemes to replace Underhill House and Sweetman Street
• Reduce increase in grave lease fee from 50% to 5%
• Reduce increase in cremation remains lease fee from 2% to 5%
• Reverse decision to charge for City Centre car parks in the evening
• Reinstate Christmas Park and Ride
• Fund schools for inflation only increase in school meals
• Fund schools for inflation only increase in school milk
