Labour Councillor Steve Evans, appalled by the ruling Conservative/ Lib Dem alliance’s proposal to stop the wages (therapeutic allowances) of service users with learning disabilities who undertake work at Day Centres, such as making concrete garden ornaments, moved the following motion at Full Council on 16th December 2009:
‘This Council resolves to maintain the payment of therapeutic earnings allowances to day care service users. It further instructs officers to examine in detail ways of maintaining the payment of attendance allowances to service users with learning disabilities.’
This motion was seconded by Labour Councillor Stephen Simkins.
