Councillor Roger Lawrence and Emma Reynolds MP attended the grand opening of Wednesfield High School.
Wednesfield High has benefited from £15million investment and was one of the seven schools that were part of the sample and phase 1 of Wolverhampton’s £270 million Building Schools for the Future Programme.
Cllr Roger Lawrence said, “this is a great facility for our young people and something we can all be very proud of.”
The Council has set up a free and confidential helpline for local people affected by Government benefit changes, including the bedroom tax.
Cllr Roger Lawrence said, “Make no mistake it is the government pushing through these benefit changes, including the unfair bedroom tax. However, we and our partners are determined to do all we can to support people who may be affected by the changes here in Wolverhampton.

Cllr Roger Lawrence says,
“The bedroom tax is unfair because it disproportionately affects disabled people, single parents and working families on low incomes. No account is being given to the size of a bedroom or the lack of smaller properties in an area for people to move to.”
“And, on top of this it won’t even help the housing short fall or reduce housing benefit costs.”
